Stroke Development Program

After completion of Learn to Swim Program

The Stroke Development (SD) Program is for swimmers who want to continue improving their swimming after completing all of the Learn to Swim levels. Once a student masters all ‘Learn to Swim’ levels, they will know correct Breaststroke and Freestyle strokes the basics of the Backstroke and Butterfly techniques. 

During Stroke Development Training, our swim coaches focus on: stroke correction, duration, further developing swim techniques and preparing for start and turns. The Stroke Development Program is ideal for swimmers who want to swim faster and as an option join our in-house swim races. 

The Stroke Development Program is for students aged 8 years & above.

Level 1 (45 minutes | ratio 6:1)

  • Focus on 25 meter races
  • Breaststroke
  • Freestyle
  • Backstroke
  • Butterfly
  • Diving

Level 2 (45 minutes | ratio 6:1)

  • Breaststroke
  • Freestyle
  • Backstroke
  • Butterfly
  • Introduction to racing dive

Level 3 (45/60 minutes | ratio 6:1)

  • Focus on 50 meter races
  • Breaststroke for 50 meters (including start, turn and finish)
  • Freestyle for 50 meters (including start, turn and finish)
  • Butterfly for 50 meters (including start, turn and finish)
  • Backstroke for 50 meters (including start, turn and finish)
  • 100 meters Individual Medley

Level 4 (60 minutes | ratio 6:1)

  • Students learn the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship through swim training and in-house swim races
  • Refining and perfecting competitive swim strokes and technique
  • Nurture and guide swimmers to reach their goals and potential
  • Maximize enjoyment and confidence in competitive swimming

Level 1 (45/60 minutes)

  • Tread water with clothes on for 30 seconds
  • Perform a dry rescue from the wall with a noodle (with clothes)
  • Swim Breaststroke for 50 meters and 25 meters Elementary backstroke (with clothes)
  • Dive and swim underwater through a hoop for 9 meters
  • Breaststroke for 150 meters with correct turn
  • Dive and swim Freestyle for 25 meters
  • Swim Backstroke for 25 meters
  • Swim Butterfly for 25 meters
  • Enter the water with Straddle jump followed by treading water for 90 seconds
  • Swim 25 meters Breaststroke with your head up and perform a Duck dive to pick up an object from the bottom of the pool
  • Answer 8 basic water safety questions

Level 2 (45/60 minutes)

  • Tread water with clothes on for 1 minute
  • Perform a dry rescue from the wall with a noodle (with clothes)
  • Swim Breaststroke for 75 meters and Elementary backstroke for 75 meters (with clothes)
  • Dive and swim underwater through a hoop for 12 meters (with clothes)
  • Swim Freestyle for 50 meters with the correct start, turn, and finish
  • Swim Breaststroke for 50 meters with the correct start, turn, and finish
  • Swim Backstroke for 50 meters with the correct start, turn, and finish
  • Swim Butterfly for 25 meters with a correct start, turn, and finish
  • Swim 50 meters Breaststroke with your head up, perform a Duck dive and swim through a hoop
  • Answer 10 basic water safety questions 

Level 3 (45/60 minutes)

  • Tread water with clothes on for 1 minute and 30 seconds
  • Perform a dry rescue from the wall with a noodle (with clothes)
  • Swim Breaststroke for 100 meters and Elementary backstroke 100 meters (with clothes)
  • Dive and swim underwater through a hoop for 15 meters (with clothes)
  • Swim 100 meters Elementary backstroke
  • Swim Freestyle for 100 meters with the correct start, turn, and finish
  • Swim Breaststroke for 400 meters with a correct start, turn, and finish
  • Swim Backstroke for 100 meters with the correct start, turn, and finish
  • Swim Butterfly for 50 meters with the correct start, turn, and finish
  • Swim 200 meters Individual Medley (IM), with correct start, turn, and finish
  • Answer 10 basic water safety questions
